Jonathan Hitchcock said...: Did you know that using four beats per line automatically makes your poem go in a sing-song voice that can't be taken seriously?

It's the same as using "feminine rhyme" (two-syllable rhyme like "mother"/"brother", instead of one-syllable rhyme like "moon"/"soon") - it starts sounding like doggerel.
