You are projecting! This is about an etheral monster that lives in the depths of the sea - an anti-mermaid, if you will.
Oopsy! I was imagining an extended metaphor from your "NaNoPoMo 01: Twilight" entry. Regardless, I am a fan of your anti-mermaid.
Poetry (and "poetry") is in the eye of the beholder. Therefore you are not wrong.
